The Global Reality of Child Poverty

According to recent data released from UNICEF, 900 million children worldwide live in multidimensional poverty. This means children lack access to critical necessities such as education, healthcare, nutrition, or safe shelter, with as many as roughly 5 million children under 5 dying from preventable illnesses every year.

However, not all hope is lost. Several global networks, international governments, and humanitarian agencies, UNICEF included, agree that ending child poverty is a choice and is possible. The Joom Foundation was created to empower students of all ages by providing critical financial assistance to support the next generation of leaders.

What ‘The Joom Foundation’ Means

Our sponsorship organization is named to sound like the Korean phrase ‘deo jum’ (더 줌) which means ‘to give more,’ tying two significant elements of the foundation’s identity together. Just like the meaning of our name, we aspire to fulfill our goal of truly giving as much as we can and more to those who require it, focusing on exemplifying God’s unending love and grace in the process.

Where Your support Goes & Regions We Serve

The Joom Foundation is in partnership with global children sponsorship organizations, World Vision and Compassion because of a unifying goal: to help children overcome poverty by providing practical support, education, and opportunities while sharing the Christian faith and helping children grow spiritually in their relationship with God.

Donations and contributions go towards empowering children worldwide with education, medical care, a safe community, protection from abuse, nutritional support, and disaster relief while introducing the gospel and demonstrating God’s love. The Joom Foundation particularly focuses on children in Central/South America and Sub-Saharan Africa, with resources going specifically to Peru through World Vision, and Rwanda through Compassion.

Beyond Financial Aid: Building Emotional Connections

The Joom Foundation believes that all children are first and foremost children of God, and just as one would love their own children, we strive to support and love the children we sponsor, not just through financial assistance but also through emotional connection. As participants of World Vision and Compassion’s programs, The Joom Foundation sends and receives letters from sponsored children regularly, celebrating the ordinary and exciting together! We hope that children will be able to foster their dreams for their education and future in a spiritual relationship with God, while lessening the burden of poverty.

Our Ongoing Mission $ Growing Impact

We currently assist a total of 26 children across both sponsorship organizations, providing a monthly total average of $1,000+. We hope to continue to support more children, provide more donations, and increase the range of our reach. Making our goals possible not only through our individual efforts with regular updates, research, and donations, but also by guiding others to turn to World Vision or Compassion themselves if they connect to the same goals as ours: to share in the love of Christ by supporting children when and where they can.
