The Power of Hope
What would it take to fulfill a child’s dream right now? It could be something trending recently like collectable figures or squishies and stress toys. It could be larger dreams for the future or grand passions for world peace. The children that we sponsor through World Vision and Compassion are the same, their wishes are just as grand and hope-filled for the future and use the full scope of their imagination. But, in order to help these children achieve their dreams, it takes consistent education, health, and safety where they live which become possible through steady financial support.
The Impact of Your Dollars
Both World Vision and Compassion have easy to access flexible donations. However, the recommended course of action would be to financially sponsor a child; at World Vision it is $43 a month per child, and at Compassion it is $39 a month per child. 86% of the funds directly go to ground operations where the child lives, and with this money children gain access to the means for an education, healthcare, and safety from abuse and relief support from natural disasters. This financial support continues until the child ages out, graduates from the program, reaches independence, or when the developmental work in the area is complete.
The Joom Foundation sponsors multiple children across both organizations, and much like World Vision and Compassion, also accepts donations of any quantity or asset class. Any questions or a desire to contribute can be answered at thejoom.org/contact/.
Beyond Physical Needs
And while the money donated or contributed through sponsorship goes far into providing for a child’s physical needs, the financial support also gives children an opportunity for spiritual growth. Our previous blog post discusses the importance and care that goes behind writing and exchanging letters with the sponsored children, which builds lasting emotional connections. But by offering financial aid other opportunities to learn the Gospel and know that they are loved children of God become available to them.
Three Ways to Help Today
“What if you aren’t in a position to donate right now?” There are still powerful avenues to contribute, get involved, and make a difference without financial pressure! It could be as simple as prayer. Not only for the children and their families, their lives and their circumstances, but also for the staff of World Vision and Compassion stationed all over the world, and the Joom Foundation staff based in the USA; that they keep their health and faith strong while spreading God’s love. There are also methods for advocacy and proper education to raise awareness and foster an accurate understanding of the real issues that World Vision and Compassion are trying to solve.
And lastly, both World Vision and Compassion offer the chance to volunteer at local events held by respective organizations, with Compassion even hosting a program where sponsors visit the local communities where their sponsored child lives and see the effect of God’s love through the work of Compassion, even getting to meet them!
No matter how you choose to aid the children across the world, anything and everything is something that helps build a steady ground for a child.
